  • This tool works with inner and outer bearings
  • Tool Kit includes Reamer, 2  1-1/8" combination wrenches, and one bottle of retaining compound (FYI, LOCTITE is not a substitute for this retaining compound)

Why would I need to use this tool?
Occasionally, the bearings in the rear unit of our trikes can make a popping or cracking noise. This popping noise is the result of one or both of the reasons explained below;

Reason 1 - The rear wheels were overtightened during assembly or service.

Reason 2 - The I.D. of the rear unit tube where the bearings were pressed in was not properly machined during the manufacturing process. During the welding process, the extreme heat can cause the tubing to deform slightly, and when the bearing is pressed in, this deformity can cause tight spots on the outer shell of the cartridge bearing, which creates noise as the bearings spin past the tight spot.

In either case, the bearings are likely damaged and should be replaced.  Before installing the new bearings, we recommend prepping the rear unit using our specially designed reamer tool.
