Call2Recycle - Program DetailsUpdated 2 years ago

Hi Team,
I'm happy to announce that J&B is part of the Call2Recycle E-Bike Battery Recycling Program. https://www.jbi.bike/site/call2recycle.php

How the program works
  • Electric bicycles and batteries are imported into the U.S.
  • A retailer sells an electric bicycle.
  • Customer rides their electric bicycle.
  • The customer returns the battery to a participating retailer at its end-of-life.
  • Retailer assesses and ships battery by UPS using packing material provided by Call2Recycle.
  • UPS transports the battery to the recycler
  • The recycler processes the battery materials to be used in the manufacturing of new products.

J&B Participating Brands
  • Sun Bicycles
  • Sun Seeker
  • Pure Cycles

Participating retailers

Cost to Enroll in the Program
  • There is no cost to enroll in the Call2Recycle Battery Recycling Program.  Registered dealers are provided with educational materials, safety training, battery collection kits, and dedicated program support free of charge.

How is the Program Paid For
  • A $15 recycling fee is included in the wholesale price of each new e-bike purchased from J&B.  We recommend that the dealer also add a $15 recycling fee to the consumer at the time of sale.
  • Click here to see the Sun E350 and the corresponding $15 recycling fee note.

Warnings for Inside / Outside Sales Staff
  • Do not instruct any retailer or consumer to return a battery to our facilities.
  • Do not pick up any batteries from any retailer - Lithium Ion batteries are regulated as hazardous material under the U.S DOT.  Once the battery leaves the hands of the consumer, 49 CFR hazmat training is a requirement to transport that battery legally.

Returns / Defects
  • J&B does not need and will not take back end-of-life or defective e-bike batteries
  • If a battery is deemed eligible for warranty, you should replace it or issue a credit as needed.  Once this is done, advise the shop to recycle the battery or batteries through the Call2Recycle E-Bike Battery Recycling Program.

What comes next
  • We will promote this program to our dealers through marketing emails and JBI.BIKE banners.  We hope bike shops nationwide will step up and participate in this program.  Bike shop participation is important to the success of this program.
  • We are creating Call2Recycle landing pages on our Sun, Sun Seeker, and Pure Cycles consumer websites to promote consumer recycling of our E-Bike batteries through bike shops.

Questions
  • If you have any questions not covered, please call or email me directly
  • If a dealer has questions related to joining the program, please refer them to this link.  https://www.call2recycle.org/e-bikes/
