Replacement Parts (RP) - General InfoUpdated 2 years ago

What is RP?

  • RP is short for REPLACEMENT PART.
  • RP items are common parts used within the industry that are being used as original equipment on one of our bikes, trikes, or recumbents.
    • Some examples of RP items include Tires, Grips, Saddles, Stems, Seat Posts, & other common parts.
  • RP items, if out of stock, can generally be substituted with a similar item from J&B or another supplier.

What is RP DNS?

  • RP-DNS is short for REPLACEMENT PART - DO NOT SELL.
  • RP-DNS items are typically proprietary or painted OE items reserved exclusively for warranty and repair for Sun' Sun Seeker, Pure Cycles, and Black Ops bikes.
    • Some examples of RP-DNS items include Frames, Forks, Fenders, Chain Guards, Rims, Cranks, Handlebars, and other proprietary parts.
  • RP DNS  Coded items can't be ordered through the JBI.BIKE website. The following note will appear;  "This item is stocked for warranty repair.  Please contact a sales rep for ordering assistance".
  • RP-DNS items, if out of stock, will not typically have a suitable substitute.

What is OE?

  • OE is short for ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT.
  • OE items are parts used on any bike, trike, or recumbent.

How do I know if an item is RP or RP-DNS?

  • RP Items - will include REP in the invoice description on JBI.BIKE and P21.
  • RP DNS Items - will also include REP in the invoice description on JBI.BIKE and P21, along with the following note;
    • On JBI.BIKE - "This item is stocked for warranty and repair.  Please contact a sales rep for ordering assistance."
    • On P21 -  "This item is sold for warranty and repair of our brands only; Manager approval required; Do not sell for general use."

Why do we stock replacement parts?

We stock various original equipment replacement parts to manage the WARRANTY and SERVICE needs of our bike, trike, recumbent, and unicycle brands.  These parts are intended ONLY for the needs of our brands!

  • Sun Bicycles
  • Sun Seeker Recumbents
  • Pure Cycles
  • Black Ops

When do we order replacement parts?

Spare parts can only be ordered along with the complete bike, trike, and recumbent orders due to supplier MOQ restrictions.  If or when we need to replenish the stock of a given part, it must be ordered in this way, and lead times reflect that of complete bikes.  A minimum of 6 months is currently the norm.

When are OE replacement parts discontinued?

When a bike, trike, recumbent, or unicycle is phased out, it is no longer possible to stock these specific OE parts in most cases.

Choosing the correct replacement part for a particular bike, trike, recumbent, or unicycle

The most accurate way to find the proper replacement part for a specific bike, trike, recumbent, or unicycle is by using the original part number.

  • From JBI.BIKE: simply enter the bike, trike, recumbent, or unicycle part number in the search field, and you will be taken to the product details page
    • Below the main product info, you will see a components tab containing a detailed list of each component and the corresponding part number.
  • For those still using Score, this same component information is also available by searching a particular bike, trike, recumbent, or unicycle part number.
  • WARNING: Searching for replacement parts by description on JBI.BIKE and P21 is not easy.  Many items have similar descriptions but could be different in some way, which is not easily apparent from the invoice description.
  • When in doubt, the best action is to call someone in the Miami office for help.  Please be prepared with as much detail as possible.  It may be necessary to provide a photo of the bike if it is over ten years old or the customer cannot provide adequate details.
