The Battery Network - Program DetailsUpdated 2 months ago

Hi Team,
I'm happy to announce that J&B is part of The Battery Network e-bike battery recycling program. https://www.jbi.bike/site/battery_recycling.php

How the program works

  • Electric bicycles and batteries are imported into the U.S.
  • A retailer sells an electric bicycle.
  • Customer rides their electric bicycle.
  • The customer returns the battery to a participating retailer at its end-of-life.
  • Retailer assesses and ships battery by UPS using packing material provided by The Battery Network
  • UPS transports the battery to the recycler
  • The recycler processes the battery materials to be used in the manufacturing of new products.

J&B Participating Brands

  • Sun Bicycles
  • Sun Seeker
  • Pure Cycles

Participating retailers

Cost to Enroll in the Program

  • There is no cost to enroll in The Battery Network e-bike battery recycling program.  Registered dealers are provided with educational materials, safety training, battery collection kits, and dedicated program support free of charge.

How is the Program Paid For

  • A $15 recycling fee is included in the wholesale price of each new e-bike purchased from J&B.  We recommend that the dealer also add a $15 recycling fee to the consumer at the time of sale.
  • Example: Click here to see the Sun E350 B1 and the corresponding $15 recycling fee note. https://www.jbi.bike/site/product_details.php?part_number=671396

Battery Returns – New

  • If a retailer receives a new e-bike battery and wants to return it to J&B, the battery may be picked up by a sales rep, provided the rep has completed the required Hazmat Training, signed the training document, and the signed copy is on file with J&B.

  • WARNING!Do not instruct any retailer or consumer to ship a battery back to any of our facilities.
    • Lithium Ion batteries are regulated as hazardous material under the U.S DOT.  Once the battery leaves the hands of the consumer, 49 CFR hazmat training is a requirement to transport that battery legally.

Battery Recycling – End of Life or Defective

  • J&B does not need and will not take back end-of-life or defective e-bike batteries
  • If a battery is deemed eligible for warranty, you should replace it or issue a credit as needed.  Once this is done, advise the shop to recycle the battery or batteries through The Battery Network e-bike battery recycling program.
